YASMINE M. ELAMIR, MD - ENDOCRINOLOGIST/CO-FOUNDER
Jersey City, NJ— Prominently featured in The Inner Circle, Yasmine Elamir is acknowledged as a
Dr. Yasmine Elamir is a highly accomplished double board-certified Endocrinologist and Internist, currently practicing in Jersey City, New Jersey. A proud New Jersey Native, she obtained her undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University in Philosophy before obtaining her medical degree at Ross University. Dr. Elamir then completed her Internal Medicine residency at Jersey City Medical Center, during which she took on the role of lead investigator in a study exploring Diabetes Among Responders to Hepatitis C Treatment.
Driven by a passion to address the pressing need for more endocrinologists and motivated by a strong personal family history of diabetes and obesity, Dr. Elamir went on to complete her Endocrinology fellowship at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, affiliated with Mount Sinai Beth Israel. She excelled during her fellowship, serving as Chief Endocrinology Fellow while publishing a review article on Diabetes and Bone health in the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma and was the lead investigator in a prospective randomized clinical control trial exploring Calcitriol in the Treatment of Covid-19, with results published in the prestigious Bone Journal and cited in peer review journals over 30 times in the past year. In addition, Dr. Elamir has presented her findings at over 20 poster presentations, 16 online publications, and 8 oral presentations during her training. Dr. Elamir’s contributions to the field of endocrinology extend beyond research, as evidenced by her recent book chapter publication titled Endocrinopathies in Covid-19 in the Third Edition of “A Case Based Guide to Clinical Endocrinology.” In her private practice, Dr. Elamir specializes in diabetes and obesity with a focus on GLP-1 Agonists and Mindframing techniques to achieve weight loss that stays off.
During Medical School Dr Elamir met Dr. Samantha Shrouder and they have been best friends since their time in medical school. Dr. Elamir is a successful Endocrinologist with a thriving practice in New Jersey and a devoted mother of two. Meanwhile, Dr. Shrouder is an Attending Hospitalist Physician and a large hospital in South Florida and a loving mother of three. Dr. Shrouder takes great pride in leading the residency’s wellness program, which includes creating resident wellness workshops aimed at teaching stress management techniques and mindset training to ensure residents can thrive despite the demands of this challenging career.
As they pursued their individual careers, both doctors noticed that many of their patients with chronic diseases also struggled with their weight. They observed that weight management played a crucial role in preventing chronic diseases, especially during the critical period before the onset of the disease. In 2016, the FDA approved the use of Semaglutide, a GLP-1 agonist prescription drug marketed under the brand names Ozempic, Wegovy, and Rybelsus. Although already approved for obesity and diabetes, insurance coverage is limited to patients already diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Merely 10% of insurances cover the medication for obesity, even though obesity is associated with insulin resistance, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and fatty liver disease. Additionally, no insurance policies currently cover the medication for those who are overweight alone. Together with Dr Elamir and Dr Shrouder combining their experience using GLP-1 Agonists for weight loss and mind framing techniques they created My Weight Loss Rx, which ships GLP-1 agonists straight to the patient’s door with a digital tool kit providing mind framing techniques. They are currently serving New Jersey and Florida but are expanding quickly. Check out their website and blog at www.myweightlossrx.com.
When not in the office, Dr. Elamir enjoys spending quality time with her family. Together with her husband William, both former college-level competitive tennis athletes, they are raising their son Liam, daughter Olivia, and their beloved Bengal cat Ramses. Dr. Shrouder’s impressive academic background includes an undergraduate degree from Florida State University (Go Noles!), a medical doctorate degree from Ross University School of Medicine, and Internal Medicine residency training at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center. She has written and presented multiple poster presentations, including a notable presentation at the esteemed American College of Physicians Conference.
Dr. Shrouder is happily married to Ryan, and they are raising their three beautiful children, Madison, Mason, and Jackson, in Cooper City, Florida. Beyond medicine, Dr. Shrouder is also a Level 1 US Sailing Certified Instructor, and she has traveled the country as a competitive sailor and sailing instructor. In her spare time, she enjoys boating and all water-related activities with her loved ones and friends.
Dr. Elamir would like to thank her husband, Dr. William Grist, for his love and support and her Co-Founder Dr Shrouder’s husband Ryan for his love and support for Dr Shrouder to start My Weight Loss Rx. with her.
