Dr Mathews began his scholarship at Auburn University where
he earned a Bachelor’s degree. He then attended the University of South Alabama
School of Medicine where he earned an MD and followed this with a residency at
Brookwood Baptist Hospital.
Considered an expert in general surgery, bariatric surgery,
and training residents, Dr. Mathews is a general surgeon with more than 6 years
of experience in the field. He performs general surgery and specializes in
trauma, breast surgery, robotics, bariatrics and gall bladders. Dedicated to staying abreast of the latest
state-of-art advancements in his field, he is associated with many professional
organizations, such as the American College of Surgeons and the American
Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
In his spare time, the doctor supports Haiti missions. He
would like to dedicate this honor to his mentor and father, Dr. John Mathews,
