Dr. William J. Morrissey, MD, FAAP, is a distinguished physician specializing in pediatric emergency medicine at the newly established Cook Children's Medical Center. In his role, Dr. Morrissey is responsible for evaluating patients in emergency situations, providing critical care with a focus on child sedation. His expertise is complemented by a compassionate approach, as he works closely with families to reassure them that their children will receive the highest level of care.

Dr. Morrissey earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from Fordham University in New York City before receiving his Doctor of Medicine from Universidad Catholica Nordestana in the Dominican Republic. He completed his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Elmhurst Hospital and Overlook Hospital in New Jersey, followed by a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. He is board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine.

As a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Texas Medical Association, Dr. Morrissey has made significant contributions to the field. His dedication extends beyond clinical practice; he has served as the pediatric advisor for the Texas Border Patrol and has worked with the Choctaw Nation Native American Reservation, demonstrating his commitment to underserved communities.

Dr. Morrissey possesses extensive experience in pediatric emergency care, particularly in trauma management and respiratory emergencies. His professional journey is marked by a commitment to excellence, guided by the philosophy that "every child deserves the best possible medical attention."

In his personal life, Dr. Morrissey has been happily married to Dr. Toula Morrissey for 32 years. They have one daughter, Christina Morrissey, MD, who graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland, and is currently completing her residency.
