Atlanta, GA - Prominently featured in The Inner Circle, Sharon Womack Doty is acknowledged as a Pinnacle Professional Member Inner Circle of Excellence for her contributions to Child Sexual Abuse Prevention and Organizational Safeguarding.
Ms. Doty serves as the owner and principal consultant of Keeping Them Safe, a consultancy she formalized in 2024 to develop and disseminate child sexual abuse prevention technology programs. Known for advancing practical, adult-centered safeguarding strategies, she leads initiatives that help organizations create environments where predators’ access to children is restricted and youth safety is prioritized.
With deep expertise spanning child sexual abuse prevention, organizational standards of care, program development, and training, Ms. Doty equips adults and institutions with clear, actionable systems that prevent abuse before it occurs. In parallel, she provides expert witness consultation and testimony through Arpeggias LLC, which she has owned since 2006, bringing a legal lens to cases involving allegations against organizations, churches, and other youth-serving entities. Her presentations and keynotes have reached practitioners nationally and internationally.
The evolution of Ms. Doty’s work into two distinct entities was catalyzed by interest from a nonprofit seeking to acquire her prevention programs, prompting the establishment of Keeping Them Safe as a standalone brand while continuing expert witness services under Arpeggias LLC. Her career reflects a sustained commitment to designing initiatives that empower adults and organizations to implement robust safeguards and uphold the expected standard of care.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Doty served on the administrative staff of Youth Services of North Central Oklahoma from 1981 to 1987 after co-founding one of the first shelters for runaway, homeless, abused, and neglected children in the 1960s. She began practicing law as a staff attorney at Howard & Widdows in 1991 and later led her own firm, Sharon W. Doty & Associates. From 2012 to 2013, she was executive director of the Grace Hospice Foundation in Tulsa, where she oversaw operations and restructuring to support long-term end-of-life care. Between 1997 and 2023, she led personal development programs for Landmark Worldwide, supporting seminar leaders globally.
An accomplished author, Ms. Doty wrote Evil in Our Midst: Protecting Children from Sexual Predators (2010), now being updated as Keeping Them Safe with new research on online predation. She also authored Widowwoman – A Journey: An Insider's Experience of the Cultural Phenomenon 'Widow' and Dealing with Loss in Our Society and the Signposts Along the Way (2020) and Developing 20/20 Foresight: Learning How to Have It Go Your Way (2024).
Ms. Doty earned a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from the University of Oklahoma in 1967, a Master of Arts in human relations in 1989, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1991. She also holds a diploma from the Interdisciplinary Training Program in Child Abuse and Neglect at the Center on Child Abuse and Neglect within the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, completed in 1991. This training has informed her development of prevention models and her advocacy for vulnerable youth.
Her professional affiliations include the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect and the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children. Civic and cultural engagement includes presidency of her local P.E.O. chapter (elected March 2026), longstanding membership in Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity where she chairs a task force, performance with North Atlanta Voices, and active parishioner service at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Her recognitions include selection for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who; YWCA Tulsa's 100 Women with Moxie; Outstanding Young Oklahoma Women; three-time finalist for Oklahoma's Woman of the Year (ages 74–76); The Journal Record Woman of the Year Circle of Excellence; Outstanding Volunteer for Child Advocacy Award; and Oklahoma's Outstanding Child Abuse Prevention Award.
Grounded in the conviction that empowering adults with practical tools is the most effective way to prevent abuse and foster safe environments for youth, Ms. Doty is focused on expanding access to culturally responsive, real-world strategies.
