SAKARA B. SAMPSON - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND OWNER
Richmond, CA - Prominently featured in The Inner Circle, Sakara B Sampson is acknowledged as a Pinnacle Professional of The Year for her contributions to Non-Medical Home Care and Caregiving Services.
Sakara Sampson serves as the Owner and Executive Director of CareBuilders at Home of Contra Costa, California, where she leads a mission to provide compassionate non-medical in-home care that preserves dignity, independence, and quality of life. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, she launched the business in early 2026 to connect families with dependable care services, support caregivers, and help older adults and individuals in need remain safe and comfortable in their own homes.
CareBuilders at Home of Contra Costa delivers personalized non-medical in-home care, caregiver support, and care coordination tailored to each client’s needs. Serving Contra Costa County, the organization prioritizes matching families with dependable caregivers and delivering high-quality services that respect each client’s preferences and routines.
Sampson brings a broad set of capabilities to this work, including entrepreneurship, business development and operations, strategic partnerships and alliances, social services and behavioral health, quality improvement, community development, and client advocacy. Her mission-driven, humanity-first approach is anchored in compassion, accountability, continuous learning, and recognition of each person’s dignity.
Before founding the business, she dedicated 17 years to public service with Alameda County in roles spanning eligibility services, behavioral health, quality improvement, and the agency director’s office. Early in her career she assisted residents with CalFresh (food stamps), General Assistance, and Medi-Cal; she then advocated for clients to maintain access to essential benefits and helped ensure programs met state standards. She also monitored and evaluated programs serving vulnerable populations, particularly people with disabilities and older adults, to ensure they delivered quality, effective services. In the director’s office, she helped oversee an approximately $45 million discretionary fund for nonprofit organizations and community programs.
Building on this foundation, Sampson has established a trusted, community-focused in-home care enterprise and also owns Violet Legacy Consulting, which provides nonprofit consulting services. Across these endeavors, she works to strengthen relationships among clients, families, and caregivers while expanding access to compassionate support.
Sampson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Radio and Television from San Francisco State University in 2007. Her dedication to caregiving is deeply influenced by her family legacy, including a grandfather who was among the early Black social workers in Alameda County and a mother who cared for children and older adults.
Looking ahead, she is actively scaling and expanding CareBuilders at Home of Contra Costa to broaden access to in-home care, empower caregivers and families, and make a lasting positive impact on the community. For more information, please visit www.carebuildersathome.com.
