Dr. Reynard C. Odenheimer, a highly regarded general neurologist, has dedicated his career to diagnosing and treating movement disorders and providing comprehensive neurological care for patients of all ages, including children. With a focus on movement disorders, such as Parkinson’s Disease and dementia, as well as expertise in deep brain stimulation, Dr. Odenheimer brings compassionate, patient-centered care to his practice.
A Louisiana native, Dr. Odenheimer’s academic achievements include a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Southwest Louisiana. He earned a Master of Science in Pharmacology (1985) and a Doctor of Medicine (1988) from Louisiana State University (LSU) in Shreveport. His medical training continued with an internal medicine internship at Earl K. Long Memorial Hospital in Baton Rouge and a neurology residency at LSU/Charles Hospital in New Orleans (1993). He further specialized in movement disorders, earning a diploma under the mentorship of Dr. Jay Rao at LSU’s Department of Neurology.
Dr. Odenheimer’s approach to medicine emphasizes comprehensive care. He listens attentively to his patients, ensuring a personalized treatment plan tailored to their unique needs. Recognizing the critical role of caregivers, he provides invaluable support and education to those caring for individuals with neurological disorders, including Parkinson’s Disease and dementia.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Odenheimer serves on the Board of Directors for the Eljay Foundation for Parkinson's Awareness, where he has been the Medical Director for 27 years. This role underscores his commitment to raising awareness and improving care for those affected by Parkinson’s and related disorders.
Dr. Odenheimer is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology and Psychiatry and the Movement Disorders Society. He attributes his success to the unwavering support of his staff, the Physician Recovery Support Group, and the Healthcare Professionals Foundation of Louisiana.
Looking ahead, Dr. Odenheimer aims to continue advancing neurological care in his community, striving for improved patient outcomes and providing greater support to patients and their caregivers.
