Executive Press ReleaseREBECCA F. VICKERS - PEDIATRICIAN
Arnold, MD — Rebecca F. Vickers, MD, is being recognized by
Continental Who's Who as an Exceptional
Healthcare Professional in the Medical field, acknowledging her work in
group practice at Arundel Pediatrics.
A committed pediatrician, Dr. Vickers established
Arundel Pediatrics PA in 2006 and has been happy to practice with her
colleagues, originally in Linthicum, MD, and then a few years later in the
Arnold location where she currently works. Dr. Vickers has been in practice as
a physician for 27 years. Her primary focus is on wellness and preventive
health, and she tries to apply a holistic and integrative approach with all of
her patients. She uses the functional medicine model to approach more
complicated patients with special interests in asthma and allergies, autism
behavior and development, celiac disease, and ADD/ADHD/mental health.
Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants,
children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends
individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide
medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are
trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of
injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages as they grow
and mature.
Dr. Vickers' father was a psychiatrist, which led her to seek a career in
healthcare as well. She knew from a
young age that she wanted to be a pediatrician because she loves children. She
really, really cares about her patients and does her best to treat them
proactively and preventatively. She also very much loves her staff, and they
have all been like an extended family. She will often conduct and participate
in “Lunch and Learns” with her colleagues so that they can all share their
expertise with each other.
Pertaining to her educational pursuits, Dr. Vickers graduated from the
University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and obtained her
medical degree from New York Medical College. She then completed her residency
in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Recognized as a Fellow of the American
Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), the doctor is board-certified in pediatrics by
the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). In addition, she is certified by the
American Heart Association in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
(CPR), Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NRP), and Pediatric Advanced Life
Support (PALS).
In her spare time, the doctor enjoys spending time with her family, which
includes her two grown children. She also has a passion for her three dogs.
