PAMELA A. PAPPAS, MD, FAPA - PSYCHIATRIST

Scottsdale, AZ - Prominently featured in Continental Who's Who, Pamela A. Pappas, MD, FAPA is acknowledged as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member for her contributions to Physician Mental Health and Wellbeing.

Dr. Pamela A. Pappas is a nationally respected leader in the field of physician mental health, known for her commitment to supporting doctors through and beyond burnout, moral injury, life and career transitions, leadership development, and personal challenges that impact their professional lives. Drawing from her own experiences and training throughout a wide-ranging medical career, she provides transformative coaching and mentorship to physicians from all specialties who are seeking clarity, balance, and renewed purpose.

Dr. Pappas holds a Bachelor of Arts in biology and chemistry from the University of La Verne in California, and earned her medical degree from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University. She completed her psychiatric residency at East Carolina University School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in consultation liaison psychiatry at Duke University Medical Center. She also pursued a fellowship in integrative medicine at the University of Arizona, and trained as a classical homeopath with American Medical College of Homeopathy. She is board certified in both psychiatry and holistic and integrative medicine. She has also immersed herself in meditation and spiritual exploration for over 30 years.

Over the course of her career, Dr. Pappas has served in academic institutions, large multispecialty hospital systems, integrative medicine clinics, and private practice. These diverse environments have shaped her understanding and approach to healing, allowing her to connect deeply with the unique pressures medical professionals face. Through her private practice, she now provides individualized coaching and mentoring for physicians nationwide.

She is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and an active member of the Arizona Psychiatric Association, the American Medical Association, the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine Alumni Association, and the International Coaching Federation. She also volunteers her time for community workshops, supporting nature and wildlife, and preserving indigenous cultures.

Dr. Pappas acknowledges the profound impact of her mentors -- including Dr. Rachel Remen, Drs. Bill and Linda Pettit, Sydney Banks, Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, and Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len, whose teachings continue to infuse her compassionate approach. With a strong belief in the transformative power of presence and perspective, Dr. Pappas remains committed to helping physicians reconnect with their core values and rediscover joy in their personal and professional journeys.
