Dr. Rock is an Anesthesiologist and Pain Management Physician for Lakeshore Anesthesia. He has been in practice for twenty five years and his primary office is located at Community First Medical Center in Chicago.
Dr. Rock received his Medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. He is Board Certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and spent five years of residency in Internal Medicine and General Surgery prior to going into Anesthesia. Dr. Rock believes that these additional years of residency are the crux of his holistic approach to his patients. The extra years in Internal Medicine have enhanced his understanding of physiology and the disease state. His experience in surgery has given him the necessary skills to perform invasive spinal procedures, including implants and minimally invasive fusions. His practice is therefore fully interventional as well as integrative with respect to treating even the most complex pain issues.
His advice to those entering the industry is to “love the science of the field above all else”. Students should seek out their passion and talent, then put them to good use. Healthcare is an industry that is fraught with bureaucracy and is heavily regulated by outside agencies and interests. It is a privilege to be licensed to care for others. If you do not feel this in your core, then the rigors and frustrations of the field will break you.
Dr. Rock is the Director of Anesthesia for the Silver Service Foundation, an organization that has provided specialized orthopedic and spinal / scoliosis healthcare to children in Colombia, South America for the past twenty five years.
