Laura J. Lofaro is a respected name in Executive Recruitment
and Consulting, with over 30 years of experience. She built her company from
the ground up, becoming the CEO of Sterling Resources International at age 32.
She first attended school at the Ursuline Academy. Ms. Lofaro later attended
the College of New Rochelle, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Political Science and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art history and Fine
Arts and graduated Cum Laude.
Ms. Lofaro got her start at Hawkes, Randolph & Associates. As an associate
there, she grew the retainer investment banking business globally. Ms. Lofaro
gained experience in Corporate Finance and Sales and Trading. She built the
firm’s first-ever retainer investment banking practice as one of the first
recruiters to refine cross-border placement.
Her work at Hawkes, Randolph & Associates inspired her to return to
college. She asked several of her clients to write her letters of
recommendation to Harvard Business School, and they instead recommended she try
her hand at independent consultancy. After one year of attending business
school, Ms. Lofaro decided to open her own firm.
In 1988, Ms. Lofaro turned to her business venture: founding her company,
Sterling Resources International. As the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of
the International Executive Search and Compensation Consulting firm, she
specialized in all areas of investment banking and corporate recruiting. Ms.
Lofaro worked throughout the world, making connections in North America, South
America, Latin America, Asia, and Europe.
Ms. Lofaro has worked with multimillion-dollar corporations, such as working
with the Global Energy Team ($250 million business). She has worked with
top-tier companies such as Healthcare Team ($35 million business). In her work
on domestic national healthcare research, she worked with the Heads of
Financial Institutions, as well as with the CFO of a $5 billion private Real
Estate Firm.

leaders.”
Her innovative approach to executive staffing reflects this message. Her daily
responsibilities include strategizing and refining the company’s focus on
Management Consulting in order to find the best possible candidates to fill job
openings. Ms. Lofaro is proud hire women for executive roles. She has placed
the Head of Health Care for a major American company, and hired a lead worker
for Morgan Stanley’s fixed-income division in 1997. Ms. Lofaro instated women
in both positions, furthering efforts for gender equality in the workforce.
In another aspect of her work, Ms. Lofaro has been presenting and delivering
the annual compensation reports to the Operating and Management Committees
since 1991. She consults on global investment banking, American and European
banking boutiques, American private equity firms, and US venture capital firms.
Considered an expert in her field, Ms. Lofaro has presented live speaking
engagements as well as televised interview segments on broadcast media. She was
featured as a CNBC guest, and was invited to speak at Columbia Business School.
Ms. Lofaro authored a valuable projection planning and budgeting guide for
clients, releasing “Projected Compensation for Investment Banking” in 1989.
On a personal note, Ms. Lofaro is dedicated to working to end homelessness in
her city. She fundraises for Southampton
Hospital in Southampton, NY; as well as The Lord’s Place in West Palm Beach,
FL, which actively provides supportive housing, career training, reentry
services, and more to people who are experiencing housing instability. Ms.
Lofaro additionally sits on the board of trustees of the Museum of the City of
New York.
She attributes her success to her strong work ethic and the bonds of a strong
team of coworkers. Ms. Lofaro completes every task, no matter how difficult it
is or how long it takes. She emphasizes that the keys to success are hard work,
perseverance, collaboration, and compromise.
Looking towards her bright future, Ms. Lofaro plans to continue to educate and
