
Chicago, IL-Dr. Freidoon Azizi is being recognized by

Dr. Azizi received an MD from Tabriz University of Medical
Sciences, Faculty of Medicine in Iran. He completed three years of residency in
Iran and transferred to Mt. Sinai Hospital/Chicago Medical School. He finished
a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the University of Chicago, where he
also completed additional training and certification in cytopathology.
Dr. Azizi is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and
Gynecologists (FACOG), a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and
a Fellow of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology. He is board-certified in
gynecologic oncology & obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of
Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ABOG).
According to Dr. Azizi, the ABOG is a non-profit organization that
provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in
the United States and Canada. Gynecologic oncology is a specialized field of
medicine that focuses on cancers of the female reproductive system including
ovarian cancer uterine cancer vaginal cancer cervical cancer and vulvar cancer.
As specialists, they have extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of
these cancers.
Dr. Azizi is a gynecologic oncologist performing surgeries for cervical,
uterine, and ovarian cancers. He is a specialist in minimally invasive robotic
surgery, utilizing the Da Vinci robotic surgery system. The doctor is also the
Director of the Gynecological Oncology Saint Joseph Hospital Medical Center in
Chicago, Illinois. He is also a robotic surgery specialist performing advanced
minimally invasive Da Vinci robotic surgery.He is affiliated with Ascension
Saint Joseph and Resurrection in Chicago, Thorek Memorial Hospital, and Captain
James A Lovell Federal Health Care Center.
Dr. Azizi served as an Associate Professor of Clinical Obstetrics &
Gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine from 1982-
1986. He was an Associate Professor at Northeastern University from 1986 to
2017.
Dr. Azizi has been in his current position for more than 44 years. He has
received the honor of Patients’ Choice Award (2010-2018); Compassionate Doctor
Recognition (2015-2018; 2010-2013); Patients’ Choice 5th Anniversary Award
(2015 2014-2018; 2020); On-Time Doctor Award (2018) and Compassionate Doctor
Award – 5 Year Honoree (2020).
The doctor is associated with American Society for Gynecologic Oncology; Fellow
of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology; and Fellow of the
American College of Surgeons. He speaks multiple languages including English,
Assyrian, Persian and Turkish. Dr. Azizi’s mentors are Michael Newton, MD,
Arthur Hurbst, MD, and George Weid, MD.
