With 45 years of experience in the field of family law, Attorney Frederick J.
Magovern is revered for his remarkable contributions to the profession. He started
his practice in 1979 and since then has shouldered the responsibility of
representing families in such high-stake cases.
Throughout his educational endeavors, Mr. Magovern graduated from Fordham
University in 1971 and earned his Juris Doctor (JD). Previously, he obtained a
Bachelors of Arts in government and history from Manhattan College.
To further enhance his professional development, Mr.
Magovern is a distinguished member of several elite organizations including the
New York State Bar Association, Nassau County Bar Association, American Bar
Association, and the National Council for Adoption. In his previous capacity,
he was also a Board Member of the NYS Task Force on Permanency Planning for
Foster Children (1993-4), Fellow & Founding Member of the American Academy
of Adoption Attorneys (1990) and Mayoral Appointee of the NYC Mayor’s Public
Child Fatality Review Committee (1986-7). Throughout the course of his career,
Mr. Magovern has given lectures and made appearances on television and radio. Successfully,
he has authored several articles Law journals such as the Children’s Legal
Rights Journal and in news publications such as Newsday, New York Times, and
the New York Post.
In recognition of his professional contributions, Mr. Magovern has been awarded
several awards throughout his career. He was awarded the AV Martindale Hubbell,
highest rating for legal skills & ethical practices – 25+ years; listed in
the NY Times Top Attorneys in the NY Metro Area – 2007, 2009, 2011; Angel in
Adoption, United States Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute – 2009;
