FRANCES HARDER - CEO & AUTHOR

Rolling Hills Estates, CA - Prominently featured in The Inner Circle, Frances Harder is recognized as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member for her contributions to Advancing Sustainable Fashion Entrepreneurship Worldwide.

Frances Harder has built a globally respected career in fashion design, education, and entrepreneurship, recognized for bridging the gap between creativity and business success within the apparel industry. A long-time industry veteran, she is best known as the founder of Fashion Business Inc., (FBI) 501c3 & Fashion for Profit Consulting, a platform dedicated to equipping fashion professionals with the practical knowledge required to build sustainable and profitable businesses.

Ms. Harder identified a critical challenge facing many designers and creatives early in her career. While artistic talent was abundant, essential business skills such as costing, branding, production planning, and merchandising were often lacking. Determined to address this need, she took an entrepreneurial leap in 1998 by self-publishing Fashion for Profit, now in its 11th edition. Fashion for Profit also has accompanying books, Costing for Profit and Brand Building for Profit, plus Forms for Profit a file (downloadable) of contracts and other important documents needed when starting your own apparel business. The book also has lesson plans to use if used in colleges as a textbook.  The book has become a foundational resource for fashion startups and professionals around the world.

Through Fashion for Profit, the Fashion Business Incubator, and her global consulting practice, Ms. Harder has empowered designers, entrepreneurs, and established companies to strengthen their operations and compete effectively in a demanding marketplace. Her work spans mentoring emerging designers, retraining displaced industry workers, and advising organizations such as the United Nations for third world countries enter the US market. Frances also had her name under license in Japan, designing for Presilla Prestley and the Sultan of Bruni.

These publications and her intense international background, plus the credibility of Fashion Business Inc.  further reinforce her reputation as a trusted authority in fashion business education and strategic development.

Her professional expertise extends across fashion design, education, authorship, and expert witness work. She studied fashion design in the United Kingdom and has remained actively engaged in local and community affiliations throughout her career, reflecting a commitment to giving back and strengthening the industry at every level.

In recognition of her leadership and impact, Ms. Harder has been honored with the President of the Decade award. This distinction reflects her enduring influence on fashion entrepreneurship and her role in shaping how creative professionals approach business strategy.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Ms. Harder enjoys travel and writing. She expresses deep gratitude to her husband, Helmut, and her children, Hans Harder and Erika Deane, for their continued love and support.

Looking ahead, Ms. Harder plans to expand her work as an expert witness while continuing to network, write, and support the next generation of fashion entrepreneurs through education, mentorship, and innovation. She will be launching a new YouTube series where she will interview some of the many industry experts who contributed to her books.
