GA — Farhang Rabbani, MD, FRCSC, is being recognized by Continental Who's Who
as a Distinguished Oncologic Urologist for his
outstanding career in the Medical field and in acknowledgment of his work with
Cancer Treatment Centers of America - Atlanta.
A
board-certified urologist, Dr. Rabbani specializes in urological oncology,
treating patients with cancer of the prostate, bladder, testes, and kidneys. He
has gained in-depth knowledge of these diseases through extensive research,
over two decades of practice in urologic oncology, and training numerous
residents and fellows over the years. At Cancer Treatment Centers of America
(CTCA) in Atlanta, he provides surgical treatment for urologic cancers,
including prostate, kidney, bladder, testicular, and penile cancer.
In
pursuit of his educational and professional goals, Dr. Rabbani received his
Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with Honors at age 19 from the
University of British Columbia (UBC). He received the Governor General's Gold
Medal for graduating at the top of the UBC undergraduate program. He graduated
with his Medical Degree from UBC in 1991. His postgraduate training began with
a rotating internship in London, Canada, and continued with a residency in
urology from 1992 to 1996 at his alma mater in Vancouver. He then completed a
three-year fellowship in urologic oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer
Center from 1996 to 1999.
Among
his professional memberships and associations, Dr. Rabbani is affiliated with
the American Urological Association, Society of Urologic Oncology, and the
Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network Think Tank. The doctor is a Fellow of the Royal
College of Surgeons of Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of
Urology.
A
respected authority in his field, Dr. Rabbani has held academic positions as
Interim Chief of the Department of Urology at Montefiore Medical Center -
Weiler Division and as Director of Research and Associate Director of the
Prostate and Genitourinary Cancer Program at the Montefiore - Einstein Center
for Cancer Care. His previous academic appointments include Assistant Professor
of Urology at Weill-Cornell Medical Center, Adjunct Assistant Professor of
Urology at SUNY-Downstate Medical Center, and Associate Professor of Clinical
Urology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University.
Dr.
Rabbani has published extensively in major journals such as the Journal of the
National Cancer Institute, the Journal of Clinical Oncology, European Urology,
Cancer, and the Journal of Urology. He has published more than 80 peer-reviewed
articles with over 7200 citations and written more than 25 book chapters,
review articles, and editorials. In 1998, he achieved a landmark publication in
the Journal of Urology, which helped set a new standard for performing prostate
biopsies. Dr. Rabbani has also served as a reviewer for multiple journals and
served on the Editorial Board of several journals.
Throughout
his illustrious career, Dr. Rabbani has been the recipient of numerous awards
and honors, including the American Foundation for Urologic Disease/Ortho-McNeil
Pharmaceutical Scholar (1996-1998), Patients' Choice Award (2016, 2012),
On-Time Doctor Award (2016) and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2012). He has
also been included in Marquis Who's Who in America (2000), Marquis Who's Who in
the World (2002), The Best Doctors in America (2011-12), was named one of
America's Top Oncologists in 2007, and as a Top Urologist by findatopdoc.com
(2022).
Outside
of work, his favorite pastime is being with his wife and two sons. The whole
family loves hiking and bike riding through Georgia's state parks and trails.
