Evon M. Spangler is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Leading Lawyer. She is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of the firm, Spangler and de Stefano, PLLP where she focuses her practice on representing small to medium-size businesses, family law, general civil litigation, and appeals.
Evon represents business owners with issues affecting both their business and their family in both transactional and litigation matters. She helps her business clients understand the need to protect themselves in the event that something happens. For example, she represents business owners with prenuptial and postnuptial agreements and buy-sell agreements where she helps business owners prepare for a change in his or her relationship with a spouse or a partner. In addition, she helps business owners with drafting contracts, such as independent contractor agreements, non-compete agreements and employment contracts so that the contract protects the business owner. She also helps business clients develop strategies and minimize the risk of exposure for their business and themselves personally through proper incorporation of a business, updating corporate minutes, revising and implementing employment policies, and conducting due diligence for a purchase of a business. Evon also litigates and defends primarily breach-of-contract and shareholder dissolution cases.
In addition, Evon is active her in her community and has served in a variety of roles in nonprofit and charitable organizations. As Managing Partner of Spangler and de Stefano, PLLP, she strongly supports the firm’s belief in giving back to the communities in which the members of the firm live and work in, and each year her firm makes certain that their commitment to the community is strong. In 2009, Spangler and de Stefano, PLLP received the Small Business of the Year award from the Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce for their contributions to improving the economic and social conditions of the community.
Evon is also an established international speaker and author. In 2012, Evon presented at two international conferences. At the first conference in January, she presented “Top Ten Legal Mistakes that Small Businesses Make,” at the Global Conference on Business and Finance, in Honolulu, Hawaii. At the second conference in May, she presented on “Ineffective Guardian ad Litems in Custody: Domestic Violence Case Studies” at the 6th Annual International Conference on Sociology, in Athens, Greece. Her most recent published works include “A Parent’s Undocumented Immigration Status Should Not Be Considered Under the Best Interest of the Child Standard,” William Mitchell Law Review, Volume 35, Number 1, 2008.; and “The Dred Scott Decision and the History of Minnesota’s System of Judicial Elections,” Minnesota Women Lawyers With Equal Rights, 2006.
Evon earned her J.D. cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law in 1998.
