His distinguished career has encompassed over two decades of clinical care in both employed and self-employed settings. He has maintained an active role in academia, teaching medical students and resident physicians. Moreover, Dr. Van Holla's collaborative efforts have led to groundbreaking discoveries in blood-based gene expression bioprofiles for mental health diagnostics and therapeutic monitoring. Under his interim leadership, the biotech startup Superior Genomics is poised to commercialize these pioneering genomic discoveries.

One of the most notable achievements in Dr. Van Holla's career is the development of an objective blood test that can differentiate between the depressive symptoms of Major Depressive Disorder and Bipolar Disorder, a significant milestone in mental health diagnostics.

Dr. Van Holla's career journey has seen him practice as a general psychiatrist in Michigan's Upper Peninsula for over two decades. He has managed a private solo practice in Norway, Michigan, and served as an attending psychiatrist at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center.
