
New York, NY ‒ Charles B. Simone II, MD, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Trusted Radiation Oncologist for his excellent work in the fields of Cancer Research and Oncology.
Internationally known for his expertise in Thoracic Oncology and in the use of Proton Therapy, he is a well-respected member of the Medical community. Dr. Simone is a Research Professor and the Chief Medical Officer at the New York Proton Center (NYPC). He is also a Member of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK).
Dedicated to his research, he has written nearly 400 publications on topics surrounding cancer. Dr. Simone has been in practice for 14 years, and has spent nearly two and half years in his current positions at NYPC and MSK.
He earned his undergraduate degree and medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania. He next completed an internship in Internal Medicine and a residency in Radiation Oncology at the National Cancer Institute, NIH, where he also served as Chief Resident.
Recognized for his exceptional accomplishments, Dr. Simone has been the three-time winner of the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology (ARRO) Educator of the Year Award. He has leadership positions in numerous national and international societies, including serving as President of the Board of the Proton Collaborative Group (PCG), Chair of the PCG Executive Committee, Chair of the PCG Lung Committee, Chair of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Lung Resource Panel Committee, Co-Chair of the ASTRO Small Cell Lung Cancer Guidelines Committee, Chair of the NRG Oncology Particle Therapy Work Group, Co-Chair of the American Radium Society (ARS) Appropriate Use Criteria Thoracic Committee, Co-Chair of the Particle Therapy Co-Operative Group (PTCOG) Gastrointestinal Subcommittee, Chair of the PTCOG Skull Base/Central Nervous System/ Sarcoma Subcommittee, Chair of the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) Recruitment Subcommittee, Co-Chair of the ACRO Annual Meeting Abstracts Committee, and Chair of the National Cancer Institute/Radiosurgery Society (RSS) GRID-Lattice-Microbeam-Flash Radiotherapy Clinical Working Group.
He is the Editor-in-Chief of Annals of Palliative Medicine, and he is on the Editorial Boards of Journal of Clinical Oncology Cancers, Journal of Thoracic Disease, Frontiers in Oncology, Translational Lung Cancer Research, Annals of Translational Medicine, and Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.
In his spare time, Dr. Simone enjoys playing sports and spending time with his wife and young daughter.
