BETSY DOLLAR - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Springfield, IL/Continental Who’s Who/- Betsy Dollar is recognized by Continental Who’s Who among Pinnacle Professionals in the field of Non-Profit Management as a result of her role as Executive Director for the Springfield Art Association.

For over a century, the Springfield Art Association has been providing visual art educational opportunities to the greater Springfield area through their art school, exhibition gallery, dedicated visual arts library, and a variety of special events. The SAA is located at Historic Edwards Place, the oldest house in Springfield which is now a house museum.  Preserving historic Edwards Place and the collections of the SAA are part of the organization’s mission.

Amassing over thirty five years of experience, Betsy has been in this position for the past six years. In this capacity, she specializes in the following: art education, fundraising, exhibition curation and coordination, event planning and implementation, marketing, film festivals, non-profit administration, printmaking, papermaking, and more.

A member of the National Association of Professional Women, Betsy is on the Board of the Dana Thomas House Foundation and enjoys making art with printmaking, papermaking, book arts and sculpture; cooking, and outdoor activities in her spare time.

Reflecting on her studies and training, Betsy graduated from the University of Colorado with both her Master and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees. Her most significant educational experience came through a program offered through Minneapolis College of Art and Design called the Women’s Art Institute. She believes that this intensive program allowed her to define herself as an artist and find her creative voice and vocabulary. Never being one to shy away from a challenge, most of her business and administrative skills have come through hands-on experience, jumping in with both feet, and creating on every level.
