GA - Adrienne D. Mims MD, MPH, FAAFP, AGSF, is being recognized by Continental
Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Geriatrician for her work in
the Medical field and in acknowledgment of her work at Rainmakers Strategic
Solutions LLC.
Dr.
Adrienne Mims knew she wanted to enter the healthcare field after she lost her
beloved Grandmother to cancer. Their close relationship led her to pursue her
board certifications in Geriatrics and Family Medicine. Dr. Mims has strived to
improve the healthcare field over her 30-year-long career.
Caring
for patients in various different settings, Dr. Mims gained experience in
Geriatric Care over her decades in Medicine. She enjoys working one-on-one with
her patients, saying, “It’s a privilege to be there for seniors in sickness and
in health and ensure their goals and wishes are honored. My favorite part is
building relationships.”
Dr.
Mims has extensive clinical practice experience in value-based care for adults
and seniors through her long tenure with Kaiser Permanente. More recently, she
shared her expertise with JenCare Senior Medical Center, a healthcare system
focusing on personalized quality care for vulnerable residents of Georgia. She
works collaboratively with multiple healthcare team members in order to provide
exceptional care for each patient. She is the founding medical director at the
Center for Black Women’s Wellness - Safety Net Clinic, where she also worked as
a Staff Physician for eight years. Dr. Mims was the founding medical director
of the Georgia Medicaid Management Program, overseeing case and disease
management services to 500,000 aged, blind, and disabled Medicaid recipients.
Dr.
Mims currently works at Rainmakers Strategic Solutions LLC as the Chief Medical
Officer. Started in May 2021, the company is a federal government contractor
that provides numerous programmatic support services. Dr. Mims specializes in
operations management, training and education, program management, data
analytics, and stakeholder engagement for federal agencies. Dr. Mims focuses on
leadership and the development and execution of key health care quality
improvement initiatives. This includes educating staff members and patients
about health equity, patient advocacy, value-based payments, and information
about the Covid pandemic. The company has been awarded as the SIA 2020 Winner,
SECAF 2020 Government Contractor Awards Finalist, Hermes Online Awards Gold
Winner 2020, 2020 MarCom Platinum Award, Titan 2021 Gold Winner, and Women In
Leadership Impact Award 2020.
Dr.
Mims first started her college education at George Washington University, where
she earned her undergraduate degree in Zoology in 1978. She then attended
Stanford University School of Medicine, where she was involved in SNMA, and
graduated with her Medical degree in 1982. At the University of California, Los
Angeles - School of Public Health, she received her MPH degree in Epidemiology
in 1990. She completed a residency in Family Medicine at Martin Luther King
Jr./Charles Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles.
As the Chief
of Prevention and Health Promotion, Dr. Mims served at Kaiser Permanente for 17
years. She then worked as the APS Healthcare Medical Director from 2007-2009,
followed by a job at Alliant Health Solutions as the Medical Director -
Medicare Quality Improvement, from 2009-2013. Dr. Mims then took on the Vice
President, Chief Medical Officer role until 2020. She then started a job as a
Geriatrician at JenCare Senior Medical Center in Morrow, GA.
Dr.
Mims has long been involved with local and international medical associations.
She was the President of the American Health Quality Association (AHQA) from
2013-2014, a Board Member and Chair of the Audit Committee with the American
Geriatrics Society from 2009-2015, GAFP Delegate and Board Member from 2008-2018,
and Vice-Chair Board of Directors for the PCPI Foundation 2015-2018. She is
currently a Retirement Research Foundation Board of Trustees Member and a Board
Member for the NCQA.
Her
other contributions include writing several Patient Education FAQ forms, which
were published in the Journal of the American Geriatric Society, and writing
“Teaching the Older Adult, published by the Journal of the American Geriatric
Society in 2005. In her recent writings, Dr. Mims authored “Focusing on Health
Equity Supports Value-Based Reimbursement Systems to Improve Person Centered
Healthcare,” in which she discusses the challenges of the fee for service
system of healthcare in comparison to a value-based reimbursement system.
On a
personal note, Dr. Mims enjoys traveling internationally, spending time with
her husband and friends, and reading with her three book clubs. She also enjoys
walking and hiking.
