Executive Press ReleaseSCOTT C. BUKOW - FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE PRACTITIONER | FOUNDER
San Juan Capistrano, CA – Scott C. Bukow is being recognized as a Pinnacle Professional of the Year for his pioneering contributions to brain injury recovery and the advancement of integrative neurological healthcare.
Scott Bukow is a Functional Medicine practitioner, educator, and healthcare innovator whose work is centered on addressing the root biological drivers of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and complex neurological conditions. As the founder of My Brain Mechanic and developer of GBA Gut-Brain Axis, he is leading a systems-based approach to brain recovery that targets chronic neuroinflammation, blood–brain barrier disruption, gut–brain axis dysfunction, microvascular compromise, and impaired neuroregeneration.
A brain injury survivor himself, Mr. Bukow has devoted his career to solving what he describes as the “five overlooked dysfunctions” that prevent long-term neurological recovery. His work bridges clinical research, functional medicine, and practical implementation — focusing not merely on symptom management, but on restoring foundational biology.
For 17 years, Mr. Bukow served as the only non-M.D., non-Ph.D. global educator for both Metagenics and The Institute for Functional Medicine, training physicians in more than 24 countries. In this role, he helped expand practitioner-based functional medicine internationally, developing education programs and clinical frameworks that influenced thousands of healthcare providers worldwide.
Earlier in his career, he founded IDL Export and later led international healthcare expansion efforts that brought a new model of practitioner-driven integrative medicine to global markets. His work was recognized with a World Trade Center Award for Export Achievement — not simply for exporting products, but for introducing a new form of healthcare delivery to international medical communities.
Today, through My Brain Mechanic and GBA Gut-Brain Axis, Mr. Bukow is advancing a comprehensive medical-nutrition platform designed specifically for neurological recovery. Unlike conventional approaches that rely primarily on pharmaceutical symptom control, his framework integrates research-based compounds in a structured delivery system intended to stabilize the internal biological terrain that supports rehabilitation, cognitive recovery, and long-term brain health.
In 2026, he was recommended by the Brain Injury Association of America in recognition of his contributions to brain injury education and patient advocacy.
Looking forward, Mr. Bukow is focused on expanding clinical adoption of his systems-based model, educating practitioners on the biological underpinnings of chronic neurological dysfunction, and helping reshape standards of care in brain injury recovery.
Beyond his professional work, he enjoys surfing — a reflection of his belief that resilience, balance, and restoration are central to both life and medicine.
