Since January 2025, he has served as a project engineer at Amentum, a government contractor supporting environmental cleanup and the deactivation and demolition of nuclear facilities within the Department of Energy complex. In this role, he functions as lead engineer on multiple projects, serving as the primary point of contact for technical execution and field operations. His responsibilities include project scheduling, collaboration with project managers, development of scopes of work, coordination of specialized vendors, and assembling multidisciplinary technical teams to deliver effective solutions to complex challenges.

Mr. Floyd began his career at Amentum as a field engineer in 2020, supporting Department of Energy projects at Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Y 12 Security Site in Tennessee and the Nevada National Security Site. Through these assignments, he gained hands on experience in environmental remediation, safety compliance, and technical field execution, contributing to the successful delivery of critical national projects.

Prior to joining Amentum, Mr. Floyd developed a strong research foundation as an undergraduate researcher at the University of Tennessee from 2017 to 2020, where he strengthened his analytical capabilities and expertise in materials science. His earlier professional experience also includes roles in precision manufacturing and large scale event security, further shaping his technical discipline and operational awareness.

Mr. Floyd honorably served in the United States Air Force from 2005 to 2014 as a staff sergeant specializing in aerospace structural maintenance. His duties encompassed aircraft repair, fabrication, and structural restoration. During an overseas deployment, he led the repair of an aircraft damaged by an explosive device, completing the mission ahead of schedule under demanding conditions.

Academically, Mr. Floyd earned a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2025, becoming the first in his family to obtain a master’s degree. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from the same institution, completed in 2020. His commitment to professional growth is reinforced by multiple certifications, including Project Management Professional, Engineer in Training, Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt, construction quality management, and safety leadership credentials.

Mr. Floyd maintains professional affiliations with the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Project Management Institute. He is also civically engaged through volunteer work and environmental cleanup initiatives. His achievements have been recognized through several honors, including leadership development nominations and military commendations.

Born in Concord, North Carolina, Mr. Floyd enjoys golf, fitness training, and strongman competitions. Looking ahead, he remains focused on earning his Professional Engineering license while continuing to advance engineering solutions that serve both public safety and environmental responsibility.
